I have been studying what artistry means for people and I have been collecting snippets of this specific type of brilliance flash through the algorithm. In this series I want to share these pieces of media that resonate with the artistry I hope to practice.

Hayley Williams from the band Paramore is being interviewed in this video.

What truly struck me about this at first, is how tapped in the interviewers were and not just about Paramore and Hayley's journey. They understand an musical artist's journey quite intricately and use that knowledge to bring out parts of the story that are somewhat hard to see from the outside.

Hayley herself is brilliant here, stands proud as a warrior-storytellor at a campfire telling stories to a regaled audience. It is really hard to go through this interview without feeling a little bit emotional about what it means to be the protagonists of this story. Hayley says the hardheadedness of her teenage years helped her keep going through the years of tumult.

This hardheadedness seems to be the symbol of the punk that Paramore represents. To stand still through changes to identity, the world around and artistry you stand for. It is something I could do with a lot more of.
